The BCMR’s provide you with the opportunity to correct errors in your military records, as well as upgrade the level of your military service discharge rating, should the cause fit the clemency guidelines. Unfortunately, if you were charged with a court-martial, there is no way to overturn this ruling.
The Review Boards for each branch of service operate differently, but all provide service members and Veterans with the following opportunities:
Reviewing and changing the decision of a DRB regarding a discharge; reviewing and changing discharges, including Bad Conduct Discharges or Dishonorable Discharges and/or Dismissals, resulting from General Courts-martial; Changing or reducing discharges to/from medical/disability retirement, enabling a VA pension; Changing reenlistment (RE) codes; Eliminating disciplinary actions (fines, reductions in rank, etc.); Removing bad performance evaluations, counseling entries, etc.; Reinstating service member; and making other changes to personnel records. Experience you can count on.
